Coming soon, Freyja is a custom-built fine dining restaurant and boutique hotel from the team behind Hjem. Inspired by the Norse goddess of beauty, strength, and war, the concept blends Scandinavian and Northumbrian heritage to create an immersive journey of unintimidating excellence.

The design focuses on a pared-back, “whispered luxury,” balancing mystery and whimsy with a deliberate duality; where softness meets strength, and the elevated feels familiar. The goal was to create a space that feels sophisticated without feeling stuffy, all while echoing the restaurant’s wider ethos of championing attention to detail, sustainability and local craftsmanship.

The material palette is high-end yet lived-in, pairing honest, raw surfaces like concrete, stone, and natural oak with the warmth of natural linen, wool, and rich velvet. Accented with copper and antiqued brass, these living finishes are designed to patina over time, allowing the interior to beautifully age and evolve alongside the surrounding landscape and walled kitchen garden
